Mainstream advice for healthy eating

My son sent me this link today showing how mainstream healthy eating has become. Virtually all that is said in this article on Yahoo front page fits in with what the Firstline Therapy eating plan advocates. Basically you can't go wrong if you follow these suggestions and then it only requires a bit of 'tweaking' to help you to do what is exactly right for you, your body and your lifestyle.

Cancer causes

The new report by Cancer Research UK published in the British Journal of Cancer suggests that 45% of all cancers in men and 40% in women could be prevented. More than 100,000 cancers each year in the UK are caused by lifestyle factors - smoking, unhealthy diets, alcohol and obesity. More detail in the report highlights the following:
In Men 6.1% of cancer cases were linked to a lack of fruit and vegetables, 4.9% to occupation, 4.6% to alcohol, 4.1% to overweight ad obesity and 3.5% to excessive sun exposure (and sun beds)
In Women 6.9% were linked to overweight and obesity, 3.7% to infections like HPV, 3.6% excessive sun, 3.4% to lack of fruit and veg and 3.3% to alcohol.

We all want to live long and healthy lives so it is down to us. Reducing 'bad' habits and increasing our consumption of healthy foods can only increase our energy and longevity and there aren't any negative side effects!
